The foundation stone of Sar e Sarab school has been laid on May 18. Many more will follow…
Sar e Sarab, the tenth school funded by Arghosha Committee, is finally taking shape. On May the 18th 2014, the foundation stone was laid. The ceremony was sober and very moving, attended by the head of the Department of the Education of Waras district, representatives of Shuhada Organisation, religious authorities, engineers, teachers, students and people from the surrounding villages.
According to the Afghan tradition, a representative of each community and local institution laid a stone wrapped in a nice coloured paper. Vivid colours reminding a happy day .
Valedictory prayers, led by the local Mullah, followed
And finally the ceremony ended with the distribution of some candies and a light refreshment to prop up the spirits of those present in a cloudy and slightly chilly day.
Ever since, work at Sar e Ab is going on at full pace and if everything goes according to the plan, the building, due to host 320 girls from grade 1 to 11 should be ready by mid autumn. Afghan builders in the Bamiyan province have a good track record of making things properly, on budget and on time as we can tell by our personal experience after many years of cooperation with them.
